ABOUT ME:

I am a recent convert to the Orthodox Church. Prior to my conversion to Orthodoxy, after getting sober in 2001 I started attending Church regularly for the first time in my life

After spending 20 years bouncing around countless non-denominational churches in search of The Truth, I had all but given up.

Thank God I found Orthodoxy.

SAMIZDAT:

(From Russian sam, "self," and izdatelstvo, "publishing") was the term given for dissident literature that was distributed in the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc states during the cold war to share information and to evade censorship.

After reading Rod Dreher's book, Live not by Lies and seeing the increasing censorship on the internet, I started a small newsletter in the spirit of the Samizdat publications during the Cold War (along with the DIY, punk ethos of the 70's and 80's).

Living through the Cold War, I always had a fascination with Eastern Europe and Russia, as there seemed to be something mysterious about life behind the Iron Curtain, however I never imagined that 30 years later the west would be facing the same threat that Eastern Europe faced in the 20th century.

Due to the silencing of dissent in the technosphere I thought it might be a good idea to produce a newsletter in hard-copy form but recently due to a couple of inquiries, I decided to post the same newsletter articles here on the web.
